Lord, accept in your lovingkindness,
our prayer for Israel and Jerusalem.
Open our eyes and our hearts
to the wonders of Israel
and to her power at work in her
peoples.
Grant them the fortitude to sustain
the ideals to which Israel dedicated
herself
in her Declaration of Independence.
Grant those entrusted with guiding
Israel's destiny
the courage, wisdom and strength
to seek and follow your leading.
Guide them "to do justice, to love
mercy, and
to walk humbly" with you.
Spread your blessings over the land.
May justice and human rights abound
for all her inhabitants.
Implant tolerance and mutual respect in
every heart.
Spread over Israel and all the world
your shelter of peace,
and may the vision of your prophet soon
be fulfilled:
"Nation shall not lift up sword against
nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore"
(Is 2:4).
May Israel become a blessing to the
world
and a light to the nations.
